About the Role
Our Senior Trust Officers (STO) administer trusts, estates and other fiduciary accounts for high net worth clients of Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. They thrive in a fast‑paced environment where attention to detail, strong communication skills, and client service are essential.
Responsibilities- Serve as primary officer responsible for the management and administration of key trust company client relationships and fiduciary accounts.
- Manage a book of trust company accounts among a team of professionals, including one or more junior trust officers and a wealth management professional.
- Work closely with PWA teams to develop long‑term relationships with clients, families, and beneficiaries.
- Coordinate client management with PWAs, engaging regularly with clients, family members, and their attorneys and advisors.
- Interpret and understand estate planning instruments including trusts, wills, tax filings and other related documents governing each account.
- Understand and apply fiduciary laws and practices proactively, implementing estate and trust planning strategies.
- Understand investment goals and objectives and coordinate the investment process with GSTC investment officers and PWAs.
- Contribute to new business development efforts, representing GSTC in meetings with prospects, attorneys, and other professional advisors.
- Perform responsibilities consistent with best fiduciary and risk‑management practices.
- Handle complex trust and relationship matters.
- Manage regulatory reviews and discretionary distribution requests.
- Coordinate and oversee tax preparation on accounts with our tax compliance service provider.
- Participate in internal and external marketing efforts and thought leadership.
- Keep current on federal and applicable state fiduciary and tax laws.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 7+ years of experience administering trusts and/or estates.
- Law degree a strong plus.
- CTFA designation a plus.
- Accounting background and/or fiduciary tax expertise a plus.
- Understanding of “Regulation 9” requirements and core concepts affecting fiduciary administration.
- Expertise in trust, estate, and tax administration and/or planning.
- Understanding of financial markets and prudent investor standards.
- Strong team orientation.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and think clearly under pressure.
- Self‑motivated and able to work in an autonomous, yet collaborative environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
