Sun Chemical is seeking an Engineering Project Manager II to join our Group Engineering organization. In this role, you will lead and manage major CAPEX projects across the Americas, overseeing all phases from initial scoping and engineering through procurement, construction, and start-up, all within defined budget, timeline, and safety parameters. You will collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as R&D, Operations, EHS, and Procurement, while managing engineering consultants, contractors, and project team members.

This is a highly visible role with regular reporting to Senior Management and the Steering Committee.

• Plan and Execute defined scope of CAPEX measures and projects (or their own subprojects) within budget, time, quality, and safety parameters.
• Carry out all project phases, from project idea to scoping, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Coordinate project work with relevant interfaces (internal & external) such as R&D, Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Legal M&A, Procurement, authorities, suppliers, contractors, etc.
• Ensure full compliance with the best internal and external practices, guidelines, regulations, and legislation. Select and functionally manage assigned project members. Select and manage engineering consultants and contractors.
• Specify and select services, machinery, equipment, etc.
• Responsible for regular project controlling & reporting to the Steering Committee/Senior Management.
• Ensure appropriate project and technical documentation is met.
• Review, develop, and update engineering processes and procedures.
• Coaching of less experienced colleagues.

• Engineering degree in Chemical or Mechanical
• 15 years of experience in project engineering or comparable technical roles, as well as 10 years of direct project experience as Project Manager. Preference for the experience to be in the chemical industry.
• The ability to drive execution, lead courageously, and strategically plan in a way that advocates for the customer.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels.
• Experience with Chemical Processing, grinding & dispersing technology
• Familiarity with NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), ATEX (Atmosphere Explosible), European version of NFPA, and ICC (International Code Council) for building codes (desired)
• Strong understanding of Cost engineering
• SAP, MS Office, proficiency in MS Project and Auto Cad
