Position Goals:
The CTE-AG teacher will teach Agriculture Education to Middle School Students; be responsible for the training, supervision, instruction, and guidance for students assigned.
The CTE-AG teacher will teach AG education as a stand-alone class in the Middle School. The CTE-AG teacher will lead the Middle School Future Farmers of America (FFA).
Minimum Qualifications
Must hold a valid Delaware Teaching License and Certification in specified content area and grade levels per 14 Del. C 1531.
Successful Completion of Praxis II exams.
Additional qualification and /or alternatives as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and Administration.
Proven experience teaching agriculture education in a diverse school classroom setting.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing an array of best practices related to
agriculture and science instruction.
Interest or skill in utilizing educational technology to support all students' learning.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Ability to design and/or use a variety of assessment tools and techniques to guide
instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Effectively Teach Agriculture to diverse Middle School Students.
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilitites of all students.
Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior
Encourages all students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
Assesses the accomplishments of all students regularly and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary
Diagnoses the learning disabilities of all students regularly, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
Saves, maintains and displays student work throughout the building every marking period
Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
Performs other duties as assigned.
Provide students the opportunity to attend and participate in sectional, regional, and
state leadership activities.
Supervise students at fairs and shows throughout the state and provide information on entries, premiums, locations and fees.
Supervise, train, and coach competitive judging teams to compete throughout the
state at college field days within budgetary restraints.
Advise students and organize guest speakers to further support the curriculum.
Attend sectional, regional and state meetings and make recommendations for improvements in the students' program within budgetary restraints.
