Summary Statement

An incumbent is responsible for implementing curricula, instructing assigned courses consistent with syllabi, evaluating student learning, and fostering student success.

Nature and Scope

An incumbent in this class reports to the Dean of Instruction or Instructional Director, Department Chairperson, or Program Coordinator. They plan, organize, and instruct to promote successful student learning aligned with the college’s values and goals.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Plan, organize, and instruct courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor, utilizing effective instructional strategies, LMS, communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and educational technology to promote student success.
  • Demonstrate sound practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students’ diverse academic needs.
  • Follow the prescribed course outline and use department-selected texts and supplemental materials.
  • Provide instruction according to the scheduled class meeting times and delivery method. Notify the Department Chairperson of cancellations promptly.
  • Assist students toward successful completion of courses by providing outreach, guidance, and timely feedback.
  • Be accessible and available to answer students’ questions in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to college policies, maintain student records, and report progress and attendance timely.
  • Encourage completion of course evaluation forms, review summaries, and develop improvement plans.
  • Attend and participate in college meetings for orientation, professional development, or departmental activities as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

    • Knowledge of sound instructional techniques and methods.
    • Knowledge of relevant subject matter in the discipline/department.
    • Knowledge of computers and instructional methodology.
    • Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of learning and instruction applied to face-to-face, hybrid, and distance learning.

    • Ability to use teaching strategies that promote learning for diverse styles.
    • Ability to use assessment to enhance learning.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

    Four (4) years of relevant experience.
