Overview
The Part-Time Career Counselor supports students in exploring career options, selecting academic programs, and setting educational and professional goals. This position provides individualized and group career counseling, administers and interprets career assessments, and facilitates career development workshops. The Career Counselor collaborates with Career Services staff, faculty, and campus partners to integrate career development into the student experience.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group career counseling to students who are undecided or exploring program and career options.
- Administer, interpret, and discuss results of career assessments to assist students in identifying interests, skills, and career pathways.
- Support students in setting academic and career goals and aligning program selection with those goals.
- Provide information about college programs, resources, and career-related materials; refer students to appropriate departments for program-specific advising.
- Provide students with general course requirements; refer students to appropriate staff for specific program information
- Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and programs on career exploration, goal setting, and decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Career Services Coordinator to design and promote career development events, workshops, and employer engagement opportunities.
- Refer students to resource materials to obtain information about colleges that are consistent with career goals
- Build partnerships with faculty through presentations and resource sharing

- Support marketing efforts for career development initiatives through digital media, social media, and direct student and faculty outreach.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local labor market trends, in-demand industries, and employer expectations.
- Assist with implementation of job fairs for placement of students in careers/employment.
- Represent the college at outreach events, including high school and community presentations.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Basic operations, services and activities of career development and job placement
- Recent developments, current literature and sources of information related to career decision making
- College policies and procedures regarding admission standards and educational program requirements
- Transfer requirements and procedures of regional four-year educational institutions
- Principles and procedures of educational and career advising
- Business letter writing and basic report preparation
- Principles and procedures of record keeping
- Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
- English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Provide effective career counseling and academic guidance to diverse student populations.
- Interpret and apply college policies and procedures.
- Administer and interpret career assessments.
- Develop and deliver workshops and classroom presentations.
- Build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Evaluate test scores and previous education and training
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
