SUMMARY:

This position is a skilled musician who provides all keyboard accompaniment for rehearsals and performances for the choirs of Choir School of Delaware. Primarily, piano is the expected instrument, though additional skills in organ and/or harpsichord would be exceptional.

SCHEDULE:
  • Academic Year:
    January - May 2025, opportunity to renew for summer and beyond
  • Mondays & Tuesdays, 3:30-6:30pm (Flexible Hours)
  • Thursday, YAP masterclass 4:45-6:30 (Flexible Hours)
  • Dress rehearsals and concerts roughly once a month with additional calls during holiday season.
  • Full schedule available prior to contract
COMPENSATION:

Though part-time, this position is foundational to the Choir School of Delaware program. For the remaining  academic year, the salary is $8,000.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Promote the mission and vision of CSD and its programs with families, volunteers, staff, other organizations, and the general public.
  • Accompany afternoon and evening rehearsals and singing engagements during the academic year.
  • Teach piano lessons between choir rehearsals, scheduled within the service time of the Choir School of Delaware.
  • Attend meetings and discussions related to CSD administrations as needed.
  • Inventory and maintain CSD keyboard instruments.
  • Support staff as needed with ongoing activities and operational needs.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
  • In concert with a direct supervisor, pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role. Attend training to further develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance (keyboard instruments) or related field required.
  • One to three years’ experience performing music is required.
  • Competent sight-reading and ensemble experience is expected.
