School Nurse – Christina School District

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified or eligible for a School Nurse Certificate
  • RN – Current State of Delaware License
  • CPR Certified
  • AED Certified
  • Bilingual – Spanish Preferred, but not required
  • BSN Degree
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency aid to students and staff.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of all nursing interventions and medication administration in eSchool.
  • Conduct state‑mandated health screenings and health assessments.
  • Maintain current records and files on each student's health and medical history in eSchool.
  • Provide clerical duties in the nurse's office, answering parent calls, filing health records and reports.
  • Carry out such other appropriate assignments as required by the lead nurse.
  • Communicate with parents and teachers regarding any medical emergency.
  • Develop and manage the school health and wellness program.
  • Monitor immunizations, manage communicable diseases, and assess the school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety.
  • Work with other school professionals, such as nutrition services and counselors, to ensure child safety.
  • Actively participate in school safety plans and emergencies that may occur in school.
  • Establish rapport with students and their parents.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Executive.
Terms of Employment

11‑month employee.

Reports to

Executive.

Salary

Commensurate with experience.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to use hands, stand, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Standard Requirements
  • Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment.
  • Tuberculin Test.
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck.
