Kuumba Academy Charter School (KACS) is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Elementary Teacher to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a relentless commitment to student success using innovative arts‑integrated methods to help all students achieve at high levels.

• Create a positive, achievement‑oriented, and structured learning environment.
• Motivate students to achieve high academic and behavioral standards.
• Invest students and families in the development of academic success and Kuumba Core values.
• Utilize data to drive instruction and intervention.
• Design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade/subject teams.
• Hold all students accountable during transitions, trips, and school events.
• Plan and lead daily student CREW activities to help students forge positive, productive relationships with themselves, peers, and adults, aligning with the school‑wide CREW curriculum and Habits of Scholarship.
• Provide differentiated instruction to all students to ensure at least a 1.5‑year growth as measured by NWEA’s MAPs assessments, closing the achievement gap for all students.
• Be evaluated using DTGSS.

• Collaborate with instructional coaches, grade‑level chairs, and the school team to continuously improve instructional practices, culture building, and leadership skills.
• Participate enthusiastically in all professional development, team planning, and data analysis meetings.
• Function as a school‑wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character, reinforcing school‑wide expectations and volunteering for additional activities as needed to improve school culture.

• Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• High level of personal organization and planning.
• Team player: maturity, humility, grit, flexibility, follow‑through, sense of humor, openness to feedback, and a “roll‑up‑my‑sleeves” attitude.
• Strong belief in the Kuumba mission and educational model.
• Mastery of and enthusiasm for subject matter.

• Two years of teaching experience highly preferred, with a proven record of high achievement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Certification within the State of Delaware in elementary education.
