Behavior Analyst – Kuumba Academy
Reports to: Behavioral Health Intervention Manager (BHIM)

Position OverviewThe Behavior Analyst plays a key role in supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioral development within Kuumba Academy. The role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and monitoring individualized behavior interventions to promote positive behavioral change. The Analyst works closely with students, teachers, parents, and support staff to create a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct functional assessments to identify underlying goals of maladaptive behaviors and environmental factors maintaining these behaviors.
- Design individualized, evidence‑based interventions to foster prosocial behavior and meet student needs.
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) aligned with Kuumba’s resources, especially for students with repeated externalizing behaviors.
- Support teachers with classroom modifications to facilitate effective intervention delivery and maximize engagement.
- Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group behavioral support inside or outside classroom settings.
- Deliver structured social‑skills instruction and behavior‑management strategies in mental‑health and classroom settings, and provide parent coaching.
- Monitor student progress, maintain updated records, and offer weekly progress reports to families.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, interventionists, paraprofessionals, and 1:1 staff to develop holistic support plans.
- Assist in planning and facilitating parent workshops and professional‑development trainings on behavioral strategies.
- Maintain progress documents for each student, track service use via the school database, and modify plans within 30 days as needed.
- Serve as a resource on behavioral strategies, coach staff, and support Tier 3 interventions to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Provide life‑skills instruction and assist families in establishing healthy routines.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA and confidentiality guidelines and maintain private support settings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the BHIM.
- Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- Experience in a school or clinical setting working with students with behavioral challenges.
- Knowledge of tiered intervention models, BIP and progress monitoring strategies.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
Salary commensurate with experience; position is grant‑funded.
