Staff Accountant

Description

We are seeking an onsite Staff Accountant for a 1-month contract assignment in Wilmington, DE. In this critical position, you will be entrusted with maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing the accounting functions for our dynamic food, beverage, and entertainment operations. As a key financial resource, you'll collaborate across departments and with senior leadership to drive accurate reporting, internal controls, and data-informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Prepare journal entries for all food and beverage transactions to ensure timely, accurate records

+ Complete general ledger reconciliations per the month-end close schedule

+ Review and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements, including variance analysis

+ Monitor food, beverage, and labor costs; analyze variances and highlight operational insights

+ Oversee inventory accounting and reconcile physical counts to system balances

+ Review vendor invoices, ensure correct coding, and assist with regular check runs

+ Reconcile daily sales reports to POS systems and deposit activity

+ Manage cash controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies

+ Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting for F& B operations

+ Prepare reporting for management, ownership, and lenders as required

+ Support year-end audits and assist external CPAs with tax filings

+ Evaluate and improve accounting processes and internal controls

+ Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)

+ Minimum 2-3 years' accounting experience, ideally in hospitality, restaurant, or food/beverage operations

+

Experience with F& B inventory and cost accounting preferred

+ Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems;
Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred

+ Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database applications
