Controller – Wilmington, DE – Full‑Time

We seek a dedicated, personable, hands‑on Controller with a passion for helping nonprofit organizations. The role involves working with multiple clients virtually and on‑site, interacting regularly with clients, staff, board members, and finance committees.
Responsibilities- Serve as outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple nonprofit clients, transforming financial departments to support mission.
- Prepare financial reporting for management and board decision making and presentations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, compliance policies and procedures.
- Manage transactional activities: accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month‑end close, and maintain work papers.
- Perform analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting.
- Grant management, allocations, and funder reporting.
- Prepare for and manage annual audit.
- Provide client and staff training opportunities.
- Passionate about working in or supporting nonprofit organizations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
- 5‑7+ years of accounting experience.
- Experience working in a remote environment preferred.
- Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and respond timely.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with multiple GL packages, especially Quick Books, and electronic bill‑pay systems.
- Non‑profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Starting annual base salary is $90,000 to $125,000 based on a 35‑hour work week. Total compensation may increase with overtime pay and bonuses. A professional development reimbursement and technology stipend are also provided annually.
