Drivers in this position operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachments. They pick up and service residential or commercial containers filled with waste, recyclable material, or yard waste, which may weigh over 1,000 pounds. Maneuvering wheeled containers to a pick-up area may be required. The truck transports the material to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, adhering to legal load capacities.
Safe driving is crucial, especially when navigating high traffic, congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and around other vehicles and overhead lines. Excellent backing skills are essential for success as a commercial driver.
