Overview
Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is Vermont’s only 24/7 specialty and emergency animal hospital. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Technician Supervisor to join our Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team.
This role requires schedule flexibility from week to week and will work rotating weekends.
BEVS offers an unparalleled level of care, including expert emergency and critical care 24 hours a day, as well as advanced specialty services such as dentistry and oral surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, radioiodine therapy, and surgery.
Burlington, VT, Williston.
This is a salaried role with a target range of $65,000 - $80,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage employees in the ECC department, including performance reviews, feedback, and scheduling.
- Interview, hire, onboard and schedule training for new and existing employees.
- Manage department staffing, including paid time off and facilitating department coverage.
- Address client concerns and facility resolution.
- Ensure hospital policies, guidelines and recommendations are quickly communicated to the staff with adequate training.
- In collaboration with the management team, update and create standard operating procedures.
- Organize and conduct department meetings.
- Identify points of agreement and disagreement and assist in finding mutually acceptable solutions.
- Portray exemplary leadership and create a positive culture for staff to emulate.
- Motivate the team to perform at their best and promote the BEVS mission and core values.
- Perform scheduled employee reviews, timecard approvals, scheduling and disciplinary actions.

- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- 3-5 years hands‑on small animal handling experience.
- Successful completion of an accredited veterinary technician training program is preferred but is not required.
- National certification is preferred but not required.
- Identify problems with patients and report concerns to senior staff.
- Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs, reprioritizing work as necessary; take initiative and make sound decisions.
- Knowledge and understanding of all internal BEVS policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate systems and manuals.
- Attend regular external CE and all staff meetings relevant to the position.
- Successful completion of references and a background check.
