As a Facilities Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining our warehouse facilities and equipment. You will also collaborate with both internal teams and external vendors to identify cost‑effective solutions for maintaining our equipment. This position is pivotal in safeguarding the safety, operational efficiency, and cleanliness of our warehouse environment.
What You’ll Accomplish- Execute all planned and reactive facility repairs, utilizing strong troubleshooting and hands‑on technical skills, including electrical (basic wiring, outlets), plumbing (fixture repair, leak detection, pipe replacement), HVAC support (filter changes, minor diagnostics, component replacement), carpentry (framing, drywall, painting), and general mechanical maintenance.
- Safely operate maintenance tools and powered equipment, perform root‑cause analysis on recurring issues, and complete repairs in compliance with safety, food safety, and facility standards.
- Manage outside vendor relationships to schedule inspections, preventative tasks, emergency repairs, security system upkeep, pest control, and trash/recycling.
- Maintain and audit all aspects of the facility, including doors, loading docks, racking, and general cleanliness.
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Coordinate and fulfill office requests (furniture moves, event setup/tear down).
- Monitor plowing and shoveling to ensure safe entry.
- Oversee outside property.
- Serve as the Safety Ambassador for the Distribution Center, partnering closely with the Safety Manager and Director to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety standards.
- Actively work in the pallet repair room to support daily operations, ensuring production needs are met.
- Partner with the Logistics Manager and team members to complete daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks.
- Communicate to the department manager the costs associated with maintenance projects and provide information in preparation for maintenance budget planning.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
- Participate in the daily Master Sanitation program.
- Participate in department, team, and company meetings.
- Complete and maintain up‑to‑date certifications and training as required, including safety protocols, chemical handling, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- May perform a variety of tasks which directly contribute to Rhino Foods but may not directly relate to the primary duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Flexibility is essential in Rhino’s ability to respond to short‑term demands and ensure smooth operations during busy times. You may be involved in voluntary overtime or temporary assignments that result in extended shifts, weekend shifts, work completed on a different shift or at another Rhino location based on business needs.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Technical certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in one or more trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and fabrication.
