Field/Service Technician
We are looking for an EPG/ Heavy Field Technician for our Williston, ND branch. This is a key role in our company in which our technicians are responsible for diagnosing, performing all repairs and installations of electric power generators and associated heavy equipment within our territory. Essential Duties- Troubleshoot and repair standby, prime and paralleling power systems.
- Interpret results and take corrective actions; determine proper sequence of repairs, control costs and analyze additional repair needs on EPG Industrial engines.
- Troubleshoot and repair advanced electronics using E.T.
- Use Caterpillar parts ordering systems (SIS), effectively communicate repairs/issues with customers, end-users, and other team members.
- Remove and install components and parts. Service, maintain, adjust, and test mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Plan and organize jobs, and control costs associated with repairs by following the manufacture and company procedures.
- Complete the necessary reports in a timely manner.
- Required to promote and adhere to strict safety standards and maintain company assets in good condition.
Skills and Abilities
- Diesel technology degree or equivalent hands on experience, 3+ years previous Caterpillar equipment/generator experience, switch gear and EPG control panel wiring experience.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar equipment, E.T. and SIS programs.
- Previous knowledge and generator experience with Cummins, MTU, Kohler, and Generac is a definite plus.
- Operate the generators and heavy equipment for diagnosis purposes.
- Operate a forklift.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and be able to prioritize job duties.
- Must demonstrate good problem solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and excellent communication skills.
- Must be able to work alone or as a team.
- PC Skills required.
- Valid Driver's license required.
- Knowing, understanding and adhering to DOT rules and regulations.
