American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at an acute care facility in Williston, ND, requiring at least 2 years of experience, fetal monitoring skills, and the ability to float to Med/Surg and the ER.
Details- Acute care hospital LDRP unit with 7 L&D beds and 8 postpartum beds, plus 1 OR suite for C-sections
- Approximately 58 births per month with a patient mix including obstetric/neonatal, hypertension, and gestational diabetes (GDM) cases; unit avoids delivering patients under 36 weeks gestation
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 for pitocin, magnesium, or insulin drips; 1:3 for couplet care
- RNs are required to titrate drips including pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
- RNs are required to read and interpret their own fetal monitor strips independently; EFM system is Traceview/PIP with Philips monitors
- EMR is MEDITECH; experience preferred
- 12-hour day shifts (0645–1915) with on-call requirements depending on staffing; night shift also available (1845–0715)
- Every other weekend required; every other holiday required
- Float requirement to Med/Surg and ER as needed within skillset; permanent staff typically floats first
- Block scheduling available; no self-scheduling
- Active ND or Compact (NLC) RN license, currently in hand — pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications: BLS and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring — all certifications must be active, pending not accepted
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, NRP, STABLE
- Minimum 2 years of L&D/LDRP nursing experience required
- Ability to read and interpret fetal monitor strips independently is required
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to titrate drips (pitocin, insulin, magnesium) required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- This is a float LDRP position; nurses may be assigned anywhere in the hospital based on need
- A charge nurse is present on every shift and also carries a patient assignment
- CNAs are on the unit to assist with vitals, transfer paperwork, turning, and ambulating patients; unit is locked and CNAs may be stationed at the desk
- OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are not in-house 24/7
- RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) is present on the unit; RNs are not required to do more than troubleshoot RT equipment
- Scrubs are provided by the facility; nurses change into maroon surgical scrubs upon arrival to the unit
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
- Candidates who have been directly employed full time, part time, or PRN by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past 12 months are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- All requested RTO must be submitted upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after submission
- Successful candidates on this unit tend to be adaptive, strong communicators, and effective critical thinkers
