Description:
This position involves working in a Labor and Delivery setting.
The unit includes both labor and delivery beds and postpartum beds.
There is one operating room suite available for C-sections.
The average number of births is approximately 58 per month.
Staffing ratios are 1:1 for certain high-risk situations and 1:3 for couplet care.
Common patient diagnoses include obstetrics and neonates, hypertension, and gestational diabetes.
Nurses are required to titrate drips including pitocin, insulin, and magnesium.
A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment.
There are certified nursing assistants available to assist with patient care tasks.
Remote monitoring and respiratory equipment are present for patient use.
Registered nurses are expected to read their own fetal strips.
The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech.
Nurses are required to float to other departments based on staffing needs.
The dress code consists of maroon scrubs, which will be provided.
Successful candidates will display adaptability, strong critical thinking, and good communication skills.
