Overview
Job Summary and Responsibilities: As our OB Nurse at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston, now part of Common Spirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion.
As a nurse in this department, you will have varying roles and responsibilities. You may triage patients or perform screening exams on walk-ins, guide patients through routine induction and delivery, monitor the mother’s dilation progress, and watch the baby’s fetal heart rate. You’ll coach the mother during delivery and provide updates and support to the patient’s partner and loved ones.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need to understand that routine is never routine. We have wonderful days in this department and also hard days as we support patients through milestones and, when needed, grief. You must be sensitive and understanding to different circumstances, and above all else, remain calm in an emergency. A patient’s status can change quickly, and it’s important not to panic.
Responsibilities- Assesses antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal patients for risk factors, normal progress, symptoms of problems, and continuously monitors; detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and take action as necessary; and quickly and accurately assess patient care needs
- Responds to life‑saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Sets priorities in plan of care based on assessed needs and anticipates personnel, supplies, and equipment required to care for patients based on assessed needs
- Works collaboratively with the provider to provide exceptional care
- Administers medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures
- Provides patient and family education
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Licensed by the State of North Dakota Board of Nursing (RN)
- American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certification for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), 6 – Month Grace Period
- Certification for Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), 12 – Month Grace Period

PayPay Range: $35.62 - $52.99 /hour
