Drilling Performance Engineers provides support to the product line. They ensure NDS Performance Drilling technologies deliver maximum value by engaging the customer and closely working with drilling and remote operations, as well as training groups and technical support. Combining deep understanding of drilling mechanics with expert-level knowledge of Performance Drilling technologies, the Performance Engineer provides insightful analysis and recommendations to improve the efficiency of drilling operations.
DrillingPerformance Operations
- Provide in-depth drilling performance analysis extending beyond the scope of basic report interpretation, including interaction with customer and field personnel to obtain information as needed.
- Develop and maintain drilling performance metrics, tools and methodologies.
- Support other functions with interpretation of product performance reports.
- Actively contribute to the development of the Performance Drilling Knowledge Base through improvements to the tool as well as data entry and analysis.
- Engage with customer in well planning and drilling performance discussions to highlight opportunities and identify challenges to success.
- Provide on-site expert support to drilling operations during field trials and develop sufficient knowledge of the applicable Drilling Performance and Total Control products with the drilling contractor and operator.
- Create reports for internal and external distribution to document value of the products and recommended next steps in technology adoption.
- Ensure active communication with account manager and product line manager, as well as other required stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the program.
- Build strong relationships with customers based on thorough understanding of drilling challenges/solutions and the application of NDS technologies.
- Support the differentiation of the Nabors offering by working closely with customers to become an integral part of their processes to measure and improve performance.
- Support account managers during sales calls and customer visits including technical discussions, product presentations and product training.
- Identify, validate and qualify opportunities for application of NDS technologies.
- Provide input for product planning based on field observations and customer feedback.
- On-site support to concept testing and early product releases.
- Guide product development by providing well construction and drilling engineering perspective.
- Thorough understanding of the drilling process and the mechanics/physics involved.
- Strong analytical skills;
Demonstrated ability to develop analysis spreadsheets and reports. - Highly proficient with MS Excel: management of large data sets, complex graphs and reports, automated analysis through VBA.
- Effective verbal and written communicator.
- BS in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical).
- 3 years of field (hands‑on) experience in drilling related activities.
- 1‑3 years of experience as an Engineer in related drilling activities.
- Experience working with automatic drillers, and surface stick slip mitigation software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- Self-starter;
Attention to detail; ability to deliver quality reports and document with minimum supervision. - Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Highly proficient with MS Excel: management of large data sets, complex graphs and reports, automated analysis through VBA.
- Strong analytical skills;
Demonstrated ability to develop analysis spreadsheets and reports. - Travel might be required (less than 30% of time).
