About the RoleThe Business Development Coordinator helps small businesses and communities across southwest North Dakota start, grow, and succeed. This position combines business advising through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) with community and project coordination for Roosevelt Custer programs. Work may include assisting entrepreneurs, supporting local projects, managing grants, organizing events, and helping with community outreach.
This position will be based out of Bowman, ND.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day Small Business Development Center (SBDC)- Meet with entrepreneurs and small business owners to provide support and guidance.
- Help clients with business planning, marketing ideas, or understanding finances.
- Keep accurate records of meetings, goals, and outcomes.
- Plan and host business workshops or events such as the Ware Fair.
- Promote SBDC services through outreach and communication.
- Assist with programs that strengthen workforce and community growth.
- Help manage local grants and keep track of reports, deadlines, and budgets.
- Support youth and entrepreneurship programs such as the Cookie Cart.
- Help organize and promote community outreach activities in towns such as Scranton and Rhame.
- Write short stories, updates, or social media posts that share regional success stories.
- Provide administrative and project support for regional initiatives.
- Assist in writing grants, press releases, and newsletter articles.
- Work closely with regional and state partners to support development efforts.
- Attend trainings, meetings, and community events as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all work.
- Represent Roosevelt Custer positively in all settings.
- Organized and able to manage multiple projects
- Friendly and comfortable working with people
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn new programs and tools
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented and dependable
Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills - A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or a related field is preferred, but candidates with equivalent work experience are encouraged to apply.
