Exhibit all necessary skills to safely perform maintenance, site and/or shop production welding.
- Is qualified and certified to produce high quality, certified fillet and groove welds to join various metals on all assigned jobs.
- Has ability to determine repair procedures for all assigned tasks and procure, fabricate if necessary, and install parts or components to complete a successful repair.
- Installs items or parts incidental to welding repairs or assembly.
- Exhibits good housekeeping practices related to personal protection, work area, tools, machinery and vehicle.
- Assists other trades personnel on assigned projects.
- Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Is certified and qualified to transport various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to assigned jobsites.
- Pile drive experience preferred.
- High school diploma (Trade School preferred).
- Metal fabrication experience a must.
- Welding certifications from an accredited school or program.
- AWS D1.1 and or AWS D 1.5 Welding Certification Preferred.
- Valid Drivers license required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability
- Individual must possess ability to operate all machinery necessary to complete assigned task.
- Ability and flexibility to work with a diverse group of individuals in order to complete assigned task.
- Problem solving abilities are required to identify cause, effect and repair of assigned work orders.
- Requires extensive and heavy physical activity and dexterity.
- Must be able to carry very heavy loads of materials sometimes up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to balance and climb without fear of heights.
- Must be able to work in all weather elements.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb or balance (RVSD: 9/2010).
- Requires specific types of vision: close, color, peripheral.
- Responsible for safety of self and fellow workers.
- Work conditions vary from site to site and are affected by the weather.
- Rough grading and undeveloped job sites present a threat to safety where carelessness or poor judgment could result in serious or fatal injury to drivers or others.
- Occasionally may work in tight confined spaces such as manholes, or trench boxes.
- Works around heavy equipment, loud noises and vibrations of equipment and power tools.
