The IT Systems & Communications Administrator leads the development, implementation, and ongoing management of The Kerner Group’s IT infrastructure and communications systems. This role is critical in supporting the company’s current operations and future technological needs by maintaining secure, stable, and efficient IT environments. The Administrator designs, develops, and enhances core business systems—including financial platforms—while overseeing all network activities, database programming, cybersecurity, software implementation, and user support across the organization.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Systems Management
  • Lead the planning, development, and optimization of all IT infrastructure to ensure reliable, scalable, and cost-effective performance.
  • Define future system requirements based on emerging technologies and business growth.
  • Develop and manage the IT department budget; control costs related to technology infrastructure and communications plans.
  • Create strategic goals and project plans for IT operations aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.
Network & Infrastructure Oversight
  • Manage all networking activities (LAN/WAN), including security, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Maintain and administer servers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and backup systems (including Veeam & Hpervisor).
  • Ensure all systems are up to date, patched, and properly secured.
  • Oversee the administration of email systems (Microsoft O365/Exchange Hybrid) and communication tools, including mobile phones and office phone systems.
Software, Applications & Database Management
  • Manage and support key business applications, including financial systems, CRM, and SQL-based systems.
  • Design, write, and implement customized reports using Access, Excel, SQL, and other platforms.
  • Support and maintain the company website and e-customer portals.(optional)
  • Evaluate and recommend software and hardware solutions that improve productivity and system integration.
Technical Support & User Training
  • Provide support for IT issues, including troubleshooting inoperative hardware and software.
  • Train staff on new technologies, software, and system procedures.
  • Interface with internal departments and third-party vendors to coordinate IT services and implementations.
Documentation, Compliance & Communication
  • Develop and maintain documentation on infrastructure, systems, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, security protocols, and licensing agreements.
  • Schedule, process, and distribute internal system reports as required.
  • Remain current with industry trends by reading technical journals and attending vendor seminars.
Other Duties
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform occasional travel for support or training.
  • Assist with emergency response planning and execution for IT-related incidents.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in systems administration, networking, and technical support.
  • Hands-on knowledge of:
  • Server , Terminal Services
  • SQL Interfaces
  • Veeam, Hypervisor, backup solutions
  • Networking protocols and infrastructure (LAN/WAN)
  • Relational databases and report generation (Access, Excel, SQL)
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Great Plains or similar financial software
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Availability to perform maintenance during non-business hours when necessary.

Compensation: $85-$140k based on experience
