Job Posting: Recreation Therapist (CTRS) – Therapeutic Consultation (VA DD Waiver)
OverviewCommunity Health and Wellness (CHAW) seeks a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to provide Therapeutic Consultation under Virginia’s Developmental Disabilities Waivers (FIS/CL). TC is a consultative service: assess needs, create a written TC support plan, train and coach families/caregivers/DSPs, and monitor outcomes. This role does not provide ongoing direct therapy.
Responsibilities- Conduct recreation-based assessments and observations.
- Develop written TC support plans with strategies/adaptations.
- Demonstrate interventions and train families, caregivers, DSPs.
- Participate in annual ISP meetings and team reviews.
- Complete Medicaid-compliant documentation (notes, reviews, training logs, summaries).
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS – NCTRC).
- Experience with individuals with /DD.
Unit = 1 hour; in-person or HIPAA‑compliant teleconsultation. Frequency determined by assessed need and ISP authorization.
