** as a key member of the senior leadership team, the vice president of design & engineering will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of united parks & resorts . You’ll provide executive-level oversight, expert guidance, and strategic technical leadership, directly impacting the design and engineering of cutting-edge attractions, world-class facilities, and memorable experiences for guests. * ensure strict adherence to established project budgets & schedules and all company policies and procedures
* efficiently manage external designers, architectural and engineering consultants, vendors, and construction industry professionals
* provide leadership, management, and direction for all areas of the design & engineering department
* provide leadership in developing the park’s strategic plan with specific focus on capital investment in attractions, facilities, and infrastructure improvements.
* plan and implement all capital improvement projects in accordance with the park’s annual and five-year capital investment plan
* oversee scheduling, document preparation, permitting, bidding, contract negotiation and construction administration phases of all capital improvement projects
* serve as park liaison to the corporate attraction group. Coordinate and support park departmental input and criteria, and actively participate in or manage all phases of major project development
* oversee consultants’ design work to ensure compliance with established standards and project schedules
* monitor construction in progress to ensure compliance with design intent, contract documents, safety and environmental initiatives, established budgets, and schedules
* serve as a key park technical resource for all code compliance, infrastructure, safety, and other technical and/or engineering related issues
* ensure adherence to all capital policies and procedures
* develop and administer the design & engineering department expense budget
* provide motivation, direction, coaching, and performance feedback to d&e staff and various ambassadors and vendors

*** a bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural engineering, civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering is required.
* at least ten years’ experience managing multiple and complex commercial construction projects simultaneously.
* strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential.
* highly motivated, strategic, and creative individuals will thrive.
* excellent oral and written communication skills, possessing situational awareness and ability to adapt communications
* the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective plans and risk mitigation strategies is crucial.
* thorough understanding of contractual legal and commercial terms with ability to leverage to avoid claims
* effective leadership of a diverse group of design, engineering, and construction professionals, promoting a healthy team environment, is key.
* working understanding and basic ability to develop critical path schedules and high-level cost estimate evaluations.
* technical and functional knowledge of architecture, building systems and utilities, and the means and methods of construction is necessary.
* highly preferred: master’s level degree in a related field, a professional license in architecture or engineering, theme park attraction project management experience.
