About this location/unit

Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) serves as a vital hub for health care in Williams Lake and the surrounding area. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, surgical procedures, specialized treatments, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, and ongoing public health support. As a smaller facility, CMH offers health‑care professionals the opportunity to practice with a degree of autonomy rarely found in larger centers.

Covering a vast catchment area extending from Bella Coola on the coast to the Cariboo mountains in the east, and serving a significant Indigenous population, the hospital presents a chance to truly make a difference in the lives of a diverse range of individuals.

Currently, the emergency department features one trauma room, a minor surgery room, monitoring bays, a gynecology room that also serves as a negative pressure room, a designated observation area, and a two‑bay cast room. Staffing comprises a mix of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and emergency department physicians providing round‑the‑clock coverage, catering to approximately 21,000 patient visits annually. Our Hospital Acute Unit (HAU) offers three high‑acuity beds.

On‑site facilities include laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, as well as outpatient hemodialysis units. Additionally, residential beds are seamlessly integrated within the medical‑surgical unit for comprehensive patient care.

As we embark on a three‑year redevelopment plan aimed at expanding our facility, including a new emergency department, we are doubling‑down on our dedication to enhancing access to health care services for the community. By joining our team, you will become an integral part of a skilled and cohesive group, delivering health‑care services with compassion and professionalism.
