General SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Nursing of the Transitional Rehab Unit, the Registered Nurse coordinates all aspects of care for patients. The RN provides a therapeutic environment for patients and family development, including optimism, encouragement, and praise for positive behavior and achievement of goals.
Brief DescriptionThe RN must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served within the Nursing Department – adult through geriatric. They must be knowledgeable about principles of growth and development over the lifespan, assess data reflecting the patient's status, interpret the information to identify each patient's requirements relative to the populations served, and provide care as described in Nursing Department policies and procedures.
SupervisionType of supervision exercised:
Team Leader. Jobs reporting to this position: LPN, CNA/NA, Unit Secretaries.
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
Work ExperienceMinimum of two (2) years of satisfactory experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
Special Employment Requirements- Possession of current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
- CPR certification required and must be maintained.
- Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care appropriate to age-specific needs and cultural context.
Medium Work: duties require exerting 25 to 50 lbs of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift), and/or 10-25 lbs of force frequently (approx 33-66% of the time), and/or greater than negligible up to 10 lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects. Position involves bending, reaching, stooping and lifting occasionally in a strained position throughout shift. Ability to transport self throughout facility required.

- Occasional exposure to blood and body substances.
- Exposure to needle sticks possible.
Works in a well-lit and ventilated surroundings including clinic area, nurse's stations, patient rooms, treatment area, dining room, etc.
