Role

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing of the Transitional Rehab Unit, the Registered Nurse coordinates all aspects of care for patients and provides a therapeutic environment for patients and family development, which includes optimism, encouragement and praise for positive behavior and achievement of goals.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all aspects of care for patients.
  • Provide a therapeutic environment for patients and family development.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information to identify each patient's requirements.
  • Provide care in accordance with Nursing Department policies and procedures.
  • Supervise LPN, CNA/NA, Unit Secretaries.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of satisfactory experience in a long‑term care setting (preferred).
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • CPR certification (must be obtained and maintained).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.
Physical Demands
  • Medium work: duties require exerting 25 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally (10‑33% of shift), 10‑25 lbs. of force frequently (33‑66% of shift), and less than 10 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects.
  • Position involves bending, reaching, stooping and lifting (occasionally in strained position) throughout shift.
  • Ability to transport self throughout facility is required.
Health Hazards
  • Occasional exposure to blood and body substances.
  • Exposure to needle sticks possible.
Working Conditions

Works in a well‑lit and ventilated surroundings including clinic area, nurse's stations, patient rooms, treatment area, dining room, etc.
