Nursing Assistant – Days/Evenings – Advanced Acute Care Cardiac Telemetry Unit – No CNA Required

Join Geisinger as a Nursing Assistant in the Advanced Acute Care Cardiac Telemetry Unit. This full‑time role offers a $1,500 sign‑on bonus (eligible candidates), a minimum hourly rate of $15.75 with increases for experience, and up to $3 shift differentials for evenings, nights and weekends. Additionally, Geisinger may provide up to $40,000 in financial support to become a licensed nurse.

Job Summary

Perform a wide range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities, ensuring efficient, timely service to enhance the care team's ability to provide quality care. Provide care for patients across the unit’s age range within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following established multidisciplinary care plans.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care as directed within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following each patient’s multidisciplinary plan.
  • Identify, observe, and document patients’ physical needs per established standards; promptly report any changes in condition to licensed personnel.
  • Obtain and maintain integrity of specimens, following policy and physician orders.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and other delegated responsibilities, including hygiene and changing linens.
  • Provide one‑to‑one patient safety watch as assigned per policy.
  • Accurately process specimens and transport them to the laboratory.
  • Perform point‑of‑care testing and instrument maintenance with quality control.
  • Identify equipment and supply needs; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Serve as a mentor for new staff and students.
  • Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths per unit standards.
  • Release and confirm ordered tests and coordinate patient transport to multiple tests.
  • Communicate electronic test results; schedule and fax consults as needed.
  • Assist in ordering supplies, managing floor stock, and ensuring adequate nursing supplies.
  • Coordinate with food services for appropriate patient diets.
  • Operate clerical equipment and schedule preventive maintenance.
  • Transport medications, blood products, and other supplies as directed.

Position Details
  • Full‑time Days/Evenings; 36 hours per week.
  • Shifts of 3–12 hours, 7 am – 7:30 pm.
  • Weekend and holiday rotation required.
Education

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) – required.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (preferred).

Certification & License

None required;
