LPN, Meade Street Skilled Nursing (Weekend - Nights) – Allied Services

General

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Licensed Practical Nurse administers medically prescribed treatment, coordinates nursing care, and monitors the performance of acceptable standards of nursing care on the assigned nursing unit. The Licensed Practical Nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the residents served, from adult through geriatric.

The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, and provides care as described in the Nursing Department’s policies and procedures.

Type of Supervision: Team Leader.
Jobs reporting to this position: Nurse Aides.

Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.

Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of satisfactory experience in a geriatric setting preferred.

Special Employment Requirements:

• Clearances required: PA State Police criminal history check and PA Department of Aging FBI fingerprint clearance (if applicable).
• Possession of a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners required, OR eligible for such licensure.
• CPR Certification required or must be obtained and must be maintained.
• Must maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Allied Services.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, residents and visitors.
• Good Management Skills Required.

Physical Demands:

• Heavy Work:
  Duties require exerting 50–100 lbs of force occasionally (approx 33–66% of the time), and/or 25–50 lbs of force frequently, and/or 10–25 lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
• Position requires ability to transport self throughout facility.

Accident or Health Hazards:

• Occasional exposure to blood and bodily substances.
• Exposure to needle sticks possible.

Working Conditions: Works in resident living areas.
