GENERAL
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor, the Safety Aide is responsible for sitting with a patient while in bed or wheelchair and alerting professional personnel if the patient should attempt to get out of bed or wheelchair or pursue an activity that could be possibly dangerous to the patient. A Safety Aide may also be assigned to view the monitors and alert staff should a patient need attention or assistance.

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor, the Safety Aide is responsible for sitting with a patient while in bed or wheelchair and alerting professional personnel if the patient should attempt to get out of bed or wheelchair or pursue an activity that could be possibly dangerous to the patient. A Safety Aide may also be assigned to view the monitors and alert staff should a patient need attention or assistance.
The Safety Aide must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the populations served by the hospital.

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Work Experience: No Work Experience Required.
- Special Employment Requirements: Ability to maintain and respect privacy and confidentiality of patient information required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Medium Work: duties require exerting 25 to 50 lbs. of force occasionally (approximately 10-33% of shift), and/or 10-25 lbs. of force frequently (approximately 33-66% of the time), and/or greater than negligible amount up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects. Position involves bending, reaching, stooping and lifting (occasionally in strained position) throughout shift.
Ability to transport self throughout facility required.
ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS: No unusual accident or health hazards.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Well-lit patient room, Nurse’s Station and patient treatment areas.
