Overview
Geisinger is proud to offer an Emergency Room Technician I with a $1500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates, a $15.76 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Also offering up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.
Responsibilities- Performs basic patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and maintains the patient care and unit environment in alignment with policies and procedures. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area. Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
- Triages patient care by identifying, observing, and documenting the physical needs of the patient and families.
- Reports changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
- Assists patient care staff by performing wound care, splinting, and EKGs.
- Provides patient care related to rehabilitation to support the multidisciplinary care plan for each patient.
- Provides unit desk clerk functions when needed.
- Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure, as ordered by physicians.
- Uses two patient identifiers with proper labeling.
- Blood glucose monitoring.
- Urine and stool testing and specimen collection as required.
- Assists with transporting patients to and from the department for tests and transports medications and blood products as needed.
- Assists patients with daily activities including undressing, dressing, lifting and positioning to complete procedures.
- Transports non-controlled medications and maintains access to medication storage as necessary to meet unit needs.
- Coordinates relations between care providers, patients, and visitors.
- Promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

- Full Time, Evening/Nights Position (36 Hours/Weekly)
- 3 - 12 hour shifts 7pm - 7:30am
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation required
- Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - Required - Certification(s) and License(s):
Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
