Cardiologist Opportunity – Wilkes-Barre, PA VAMC – Up to 55 Days off Annually

The Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania VA Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time board certified/board eligible Cardiologist to join the VA team. Your duties will include treating and managing patients who have illnesses related to general cardiology and supplemental cardiac procedures. The applicant will provide comprehensive care including diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and education of patients with cardiac conditions. Clinical duties will include diagnosing, treating, and managing patients referred for management of cardiac disorders:

Core Cardiology Procedures
  • Cardiac stress testing
  • Cardioversion
  • Echocardiogram interpretation
  • Holter monitor interpretation
  • Pericardiocentesis (emergency)
  • Temporary transvenous pacemaker placement
  • Tilt table testing
  • Use of thrombolytic agents
  • Final interpretation of EKGs
  • Fluoroscopy
Supplemental Cardiology Procedures
  • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) with interpretation
  • TEE with cardioversion
  • Nuclear cardiology studies
  • Coronary CTA
  • Administration and management of GP IIb/IIIa, vasoactive, and thrombolytic agents

The Cardiologist (Non‑Invasive) will be a vital part of the Wilkes-Barre VA Healthcare System and will provide outpatient and inpatient consultative services.

  • U.S. Citizenship (Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.)
  • Full unrestricted licensure, certification, or registration required in any U.S. state.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology.

Office

Hours:

8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday‑Friday. On‑call as needed.
