Job Summary

The Assistant General Manager provides managerial and administrative leadership to operate a franchise-owned restaurant in the Lake Elsinore area under the direction of the General Manager. As the second in command, the Assistant General Manager reports to the General Manager and, when the General Manager is absent, serves as the top manager present, being accountable for the restaurant and its operations.

The role directs the work of team members, both managers and crew, exercising discretion and independent judgment in alignment with the scope of authority provided by the General Manager.

Essential Duties
  • With the General Manager, responsible for managing the restaurant, including oversight of all store operations from production to guest service areas and directing the work of team members, both managers and crew.
  • Assist the General Manager as necessary to ensure the restaurant meets performance expectations.
  • Coach and role model McDonald's guest and service experience behaviors, ensuring end‑to‑end consistency in service delivery, especially with crew members.
  • Assist with people processes: recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and training managers and crew; assessing crew work and providing performance feedback and training plans; preparing hiring recommendations, promotions or terminations; conducting performance reviews; making hiring decisions in special situations approved by the General Manager.
  • Provide an environment that fosters continuous employee development, learning, and teamwork; set the example through coaching and personal development planning.
  • Analyze labor and crew capability needs; prepare and set weekly schedules that are legally compliant and meet company practices.
  • Manage inventory levels to meet operating needs and budget; prepare inventory forecasts and ordering recommendations; perform trend analysis on food costs to inform planning.
  • Assist the General Manager with business planning and community engagement as may be required.
Required
  • Ensure food safety is always maintained in accordance with procedures and that team members understand their roles and are up to date on training and procedures.
  • Perform and assign maintenance activities to ensure the restaurant meets or exceeds standards of excellence (proactive planning, cleanliness, procedures) and collaborates with the General Manager to ensure coverage at all times.
  • Assist the General Manager with monitoring and implementing legal compliance measures.
  • Appraise team members’ productivity and efficiency to recommend promotion, termination, or other status changes to the General Manager.
  • Work with team members in the operation of the restaurant on an as‑needed basis, often concurrently with performing managerial duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School or GED required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team in a fast‑paced managed environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor team members with professional maturity.
  • Must possess strong business acumen, be independently motivated, assertive, and able to delegate effectively.
  • Achievement oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills;
    English language proficiency; ability to communicate in a second language.
  • 1–3 years customer service management experience or U.S. military service.
  • Ability to work full time with variable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
