Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs at a specialised secondary school in the Wigan area. Pupils may present with a range of needs including anxiety, attachment difficulties, low self-esteem, behavioural challenges, trauma-related needs, difficulties with emotional regulation, and associated learning barriers.

The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide tailored, individual support to a pupil with SEMH needs throughout the school day
Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Support the pupil during both structured lessons and unstructured times (e.g., breaks)
Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour and support strategies
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN, SEMH or behaviour support
Is patient, empathetic, and confident when supporting challenging behaviours
Can build trusting, supportive relationships with pupils
Has strong communication skills and works well within a team
Is committed, reliable and ready for a full-time role
Holds (or is willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
