We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Hindley, working as a Vocational Skills Curriculum Manager, managing the vocational curriculum. The team consists of catering, construction, barbering, cleaning and self-employment. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

We are looking for someone to join the team who has experience in delivering Level 1 and Level 2 in catering or construction accredited courses. You will need to have worked with awarding organisations, supporting internal and external quality assurance.

Site Information

HMP Hindley is a Prison and Young Offender Institution (YOI) based in Bickershaw near Wigan, Greater Manchester. The resettlement prison has capacity for 600 young adults (18-25 years old) and adult males. The Prison is committed to providing a safe and educational environment where its prisoners can learn new skills to help them on release.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Hold a Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
  • Have a Degree or equivalent (including equivalent life / career experience)
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have a track record of implementing continuous quality assurance procedures
  • Have a track record of successful partnership working
  • Have effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have an ability to motivate and enthuse teams
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet challenging deadlines and targets
  • Have an ability to analyse trends and identify impact on curriculum
  • Have good IT Skills
