Overview

Clark Wood are currently working with a well‑established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in Wigan who are looking to recruit an Assistant Audit Manager to join their growing Audit team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable North West firm with a strong and diverse audit client base, including clients across construction, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, leisure, and the charitable sector.

Responsibilities
  • Manage audit assignments from planning through to completion, acting as the key point of contact for clients throughout the audit process.
  • Supervise and support junior members of the audit team, review audit files, and identify and resolve complex audit matters, escalating to senior management where appropriate.
  • Liaise regularly with clients, ensuring the timely delivery of audit work and maintaining strong professional relationships. Organise client meetings, manage audit schedules and statutory deadlines, contribute to team meetings, and ensure audit files are well organised and compliant with current standards.
  • Use Excel and audit software to analyse data and support high‑quality audit delivery.
Qualifications
  • ACA qualified (or qualified by experience).
  • At least one year’s experience in a similar audit role within an accountancy practice.
  • Strong technical audit knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive, organised approach to managing workload and that of the team.
  • Experience with Case Ware, Mercia Audit methodology, and data analytics tools would be advantageous.
