Night Shift Manager

We’re currently recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager on our night shift to be based at our site in Widnes. As part of this busy transport operation, you’ll ensure the timely and safe dispatch of drivers working Night Shift ( 4 on – 4 off ).

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £35,500 per annum. In addition, we offer 20 days holidays. You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts as well as a cycle to work scheme, a workplace pension and many other perks.

• Support the Operations Manager with adherence to all compliance and legal obligations during your shift with a huge emphasis on safety, deputising in their absence
• Assist with executing the daily plan for all deliveries and collections, with a keen eye on resource, root causes for any lates, and close customer communication
• Ensure all process and procedures are followed and that we operate a safe and efficient environment
• Manage the Transport Office and drivers through the Night shift operation.
• Ensure the operation is managed safely.
• Ensure all staff are trained and following company procedures at all times.
• Ensure drivers are dispatched on their allocated time to meet the contract SLA’s.
• Keeping damages to a minimum.
• Calling breakdown companies for vehicles or trailers.

• It’s important you have exposure of working in a fast‑paced environment – no two days will be the same and we need you to think on your feet
• Previous experience supervising and developing a team within a complex transport environment
• Proven experience within transport and a good understanding of compliance and driver hours
• Computer literate as will be answering email, dispatching drivers, and compiling a handover every evening.
• Team building experience.
• Experience in a fast‑paced, time critical environment.
• Some transport experience dealing with C+E drivers would be beneficial.
