Salary- up to £54,000 a year

My client is seeking a proactive, hands‑on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our permanent night‑shift engineering team at our large‑scale manufacturing facility in Essex. This is a newly created role to support increased site coverage as part of ongoing investment and growth. Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across production plant and site services.

You’ll play a key role in reducing downtime, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and supporting continuous improvement across complex, high‑speed production lines. This is a multi‑skilled role with a strong mechanical bias. As the only engineer on nights at times, you’ll need basic electrical fault‑finding capability alongside strong mechanical expertise.

• Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on production plant and associated services
• Must be Ideally apprentice trained with relevant engineering qualifications
• Strong mechanical skills – hydraulics, pneumatics, changing belts, bearings, chains
• Assist with machinery installations and upgrades alongside project teams
• Work collaboratively within a multi‑skilled night‑shift engineering team
• Comfortable working independently on nights
