Job Description - Crewperson 4, Supply (12858)
Job Title: Crewperson 4 - Supply Center
Position Function: Responsible for accurate and expedient processing of incoming and outgoing materials for district use. Performs a variety of duties using USD 259’s financial reporting software, operating large delivery vehicles and equipment, and maintaining extensive records. Assigned roles may include warehousing, receiving, mailroom, delivery, and other related tasks.
Essential Performance Responsibilities- Perform all services related to processing physical and electronic receipt, requisition, and delivery of items using USD 259’s financial reporting software.
- Accurately prepare shipments for delivery, including but not limited to labeling packages, stacking and wrapping pallets, sorting mail, tabbing and preparing bulk mail, and loading trucks.
- Assist in maintaining internal inventory using cycle counting and first-in, first-out practices.
- Operate automotive delivery vehicles (large box trucks & SUVs) and materials handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, etc.) to facilitate deliveries and pick-ups of materials from sites.
- Facilitate pick-up, sort, and delivery of inter-school mail throughout all USD 259 sites.
- Maintain records and databases for transactions between USD 259 and freight vendors, create reports as requested, verify quantities, inspect packages for damages and shorts, sign and scan delivery documents.
- Provide necessary assistance to department technicians and technical assistants to complete daily tasks, large projects, and department goals.
- Cleanup and maintain work spaces, vehicles, shelving, tools, and equipment used by the department.
- Complete all daily tasks safely and in accordance with all governing laws and regulations.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Supply Supervisor or the Supply Chain Director.
EquipmentThis position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, and scanners. The employee must demonstrate the ability to use and maintain various materials handling equipment. Safe operation of large automotive delivery vehicles is also essential. Must always comply with USD 259’s guidelines for equipment use.
TravelSome travel within the district may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands- Works in a variety of temperatures and weather conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, and snow.
- Ability to complete a variety of tasks, change assignments on short notice, perform under deadlines, and work in a calm and efficient manner.
- Regular attendance is required to meet the demands of the position and for effective teamwork.
- Attendance at required meetings.
- Ability to bend, twist, balance, stoop, and kneel.
- Frequent lifting of 20-50 pounds and occasional lifting of 50-100 pounds is required.
- Normal work day is from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with occasional overtime as situations dictate.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Intermediate computer proficiency and ability to function in the Microsoft suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), which will be determined and validated by testing.
- Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance.
- Knowledge of USD 259’s mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them.
- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors.
- Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day-to-day tasks.
- Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
- Expected to interact with internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service.
- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Must maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Materials Handling Equipment Certification within 90 days of employment.
- Experience operating large commercial delivery vehicles is preferred. Demonstrated ability to operate large commercial vehicles is required.
