As a Swimming Pool Manager for the City of Wichita, you will be the driving force behind safe, fun, and enjoyable experiences at our community pools. You will lead a dedicated team of lifeguards, ensure safety practices, manage day-to-day operations, oversee water quality, organize staff schedules, and lead training sessions to keep pools running smoothly.

- The interview process is scheduled to begin in February 2026.
- Neighborhood pools are set to open Monday, May 25, 2026.

Examples of Work Performed- Monitor assigned recreational pool area to detect hazards, disturbances, or safety infractions, by practicing preventative lifeguarding.
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Enforce all City of Wichita Parks pools policies and procedures.
- Administer Swim Lessons.
- Complete daily incident and cash reports.
- Schedule staff to the needs of the facility and ensure that coverage is maintained at adequate levels.
- Administer a regular in-service training schedule for staff.
- Ensure facility cleanliness and maintain operations of chemicals and filtration of the pool systems.
- Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed. At no time should any other duties interfere with the primary responsibilities of a lifeguard: the safety of the patrons.
- Ability to listen to, read, interpret, and apply instructions.
- Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to handle chemicals that require a respirator.
- Ability to lift empty containers weighing up to 60 lbs to a height of up to 4 ft.
- Ability to lift and move large, sometimes bulky objects weighing up to 80 lbs with assistance.
- Ability to climb steps or ladders; move about quickly and perform tasks while standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, or squatting.
- Ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions and tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions.
- Ability to climb onto and sit on a lifeguard tower for extended periods of time.
- Ability to physically perform lifeguarding activities, including techniques of swimmer rescue.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
