As a Recreation Leader II you’ll take the lead in creating memorable experiences for participants of all ages by organizing and managing recreational programs, sports activities, and special events. With opportunities to oversee community centers, athletic fields, and other facilities, this role is ideal for energetic individuals who excel in public interaction, prioritize safety, and foster meaningful connections.
Examplesof Work Performed
- Assist in the coordination of recreation programs including adult and youth sports, special events, and other recreational activities.
- Prepare, set up, and clean up baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
- Perform general administrative duties: answer phones, assist customers, collect fees, and maintain attendance records.
- Promote the safety of all program participants.
- Assist with set‑up and take‑down of tables, chairs, and sports equipment for all facility activities and special events.
- Oversee the regular operations of a community center, fields, and gymnasium facility.
- Respond to patrons’ needs for assistance and information in person and over the phone.
- Operate standard office equipment including personal computers.
- Officiate or keep score for sports activities.
- Perform basic custodial duties.
- Set up and take down building furnishings and arrangements.
- Complete work assignments that may require operation of a vehicle.
- Additional job‑related duties may be assigned as needed.
- Ability to lead and work effectively with program participants.
- Ability to organize and lead recreation activities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, and by creative means to overcome communication barriers.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants, and the public.
- Ability to maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
- Ability to use a personal computer and a variety of computer software.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds.
Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed. - May require Child First Aid and CPR certification.
- May require ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions.
- May require tolerance of airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions.
- May require valid Kansas driver’s license.
