Irrigation Tech

The City of Wichita is NOT an E-Verify Employer.

This is irrigation work conducting general irrigation repairs, installation of irrigation equipment, stocking supplies in a work truck, and some grounds keeping duties.

• Employees within the department of division shall be given first consideration.

• Conducting irrigation systems testing.
• Install irrigation nozzles, valves, drains, and pipe.
• Make repairs to irrigation systems.
• Remove snow from walks.
• Supervises lower-level part-time seasonal employees.
• Tests, installs, and repairs backflow prevention devices.
• Assist with prescribed burns.

• Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

• Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices used in irrigation and grounds maintenance work.
• Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of the work.
• Working knowledge of the irrigation systems and irrigation controllers.
• Skills in the use of standard hand and power equipment used to perform irrigation tasks.
• Ability to push and/or pull and operate standard irrigation equipment over rough terrains.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 150 lbs. with the assistance of another person.
• Be able to secure a Class "A" CDL driver's license within six months of hire.
• Be able to secure a City of Wichita Backflow Prevention Installer/Tester Technicians Certificate within six months of hire.

Please note that this position is part of a random drug testing pool, and employees are subject to random drug testing in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
