A Day in the Life of a Wireless Tower TechnicianA typical day as a Tower Technician includes performing pre-install inspections, installing and maintaining wireless equipment, and climbing towers to support new and existing builds. You’ll deliver reliable wireless internet to homes and businesses by completing installations, troubleshooting issues, and making repairs, all while providing a professional and positive customer experience. Safety is a top priority, and you’ll follow all company, OSHA, and industry standards while working both independently and alongside a team.
LocationThis position will be based out of Sedgwick or Butler Counties and will have a home base at our Wichita office/warehouse, where equipment will be picked up as needed. The role will focus on servicing towers located within these counties and surrounding areas.
What You’ll DoKey responsibilities include:
- Perform pre-install inspections, installation, testing, and maintenance on wireless towers, including climbing to install and repair equipment for new and existing builds.
- Deliver a positive in-home and business customer experience by clearly communicating technical information during installations and service calls.
- Support end-to-end delivery of wireless internet services, including installations, troubleshooting, and repairs at customer locations.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating urgency, accountability, and follow-through.
- Build and expand technical knowledge of wireless and fiber network infrastructure.
To be considered for this role, you’ll need the following required qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (tower related utility work, construction, lineman, maintenance, etc)
- Must possess and maintain a Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain tower climbing certification within the first month of employment.
- Ability to get a Class A CDL within the first 3 months of employment
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure network reliability.
- Ability to travel within Kansas for overnight stays approximately once a month.
- Experience or ability to learn to work on underground and aerial plants, including climbing ladders and operating bucket trucks.
- Physical ability to climb towers up to 500 feet.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs of equipment.
- Commitment to following all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Prior experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Previous tower climbing and rigging experience.
