Crewperson 6 - Site Maintenance (Equipment Operator)
Position FunctionThe Site Maintenance Crewperson is responsible for a wide variety of duties. Possess exceptional knowledge and demonstrate remarkable skills in the designated trade. Ability to carry out assignments and perform good quality work with minimum supervision. Demonstrate outstanding qualities in efficiency, initiative and dependability when completing various tasks.
Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesPerform work in a safe manner and report any hazardous conditions
Assist in maintaining good public relations, being cognizant that a Crewperson represents both the Facilities Division and the Wichita Public Schools
Cooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside of his/her assignment
- Display willingness to be trained in all phases of the assignment and increase his/her skills, thus, qualifying for advancement
- Possess a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service
- Maintain appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver’s license at all times throughout employment
- Possess superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership
- Support the organizational goals, the mission of the School Service Center and the district
- Work cooperatively with others and assist in maintaining open lines of communication
- Work directly or indirectly under the Supervisor
- Daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of services
- Perform proper maintenance and service equipment
- Assume responsibility for all tools, supplies and materials
- Attendance required at meetings and in-services
- Assist all crews as needed including concrete work, asphalt repair and installation, installing playground equipment, fence installation and repair, earth moving operations and relocating industrial arts equipment.
- Operate crane for replacing rope on flagpoles, setting play equipment and assist other work areas as needed
- Assist as needed in the heavy equipment, concrete and playground crews
- Operation of all equipment and trucks is required
- Assist in organizing back lot and shop inventory
- Make decisions and offer solutions to the unit Supervisor concerning problems in the field
- Delegate work as needed to employees in the absence of the Supervisor
- Deliver and set up heavy equipment
- Operate crane for replacing rope on flagpoles, setting play equipment, and assisting other work areas when needed
- Install and repair asphalt parking lots and earth moving operations
- Snow removal operations are mandatory
- Operation of all equipment and trucks is required
- Maintain current knowledge relating to technical information and policies concerning this Facilities area, and assists the Supervisor(s) in assigned administrative tasks
- Maintain records required for efficient unit functioning
- Delegate work as needed to employees in the absence of the Supervisor(s)
- Communicate effectively with Job Coordinators
Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
EquipmentDemonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259’s guidelines for equipment use. Use hand tools of the trade and related power equipment. Other tools that may be used may include, but are not limited to: heavy equipment (including backhoe, bobcat, bucket loader, cherry picker, dump trucks, forklift, grader, high loader, paver roller, skid loader, tractor and trencher), broom, cement mixer, chain hoist, concrete float (all sizes), concrete saw, core drill, hand tools, jack hammers (60, 90, 110), pallet jack, picks, power tools, sandblaster, shovel, sledge hammer, surveying equipment, tape measure, trucks, vans, wheel barrows and 1200 pound
TravelTravel between schools and central offices is required.
