- Pay Range: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour.
Job Summary
Responsible for coordinating patient meal service—menu selections, tray assembly, delivery, and special requests—for the Dining on Call Program. Ensures staff are trained and units are properly staffed to provide service.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Manage Nutrition Operators, Workstation, and Wait Staff Associates.
- Oversee systems and processes to achieve strategic and operational objectives of the Dining on Call service.
- Assist in selection and orientation of staff; oversee training of Dining on Call personnel.
- Work with Nutrition Operators to provide menu alternatives for prescribed diets, food allergies, sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
- Evaluate patient meal selection, tray completion, delivery, and retrieval on a daily basis.
- Respond to patient needs and resolve concerns or complaints immediately, reporting to supervisor when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with dietary restrictions on special and modified diets.
- Develop and implement action plans within the Dining on Call service as needed.
- Coordinate daily and weekly activities performed by Dining on Call staff.
- Create and post employee schedules per department policy.
- Communicate job flow changes for Dining on Call positions.
- Collaborate with nursing to verify accurate diet prescriptions and meet patient food needs.
- Communicate patient‑related problems or concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
- Submit required documentation, reports, and logs in a timely, professional, and complete manner.
- Visit patients on assigned nursing units to ensure each patient is visited by the management or professional team at least once during their hospital stay.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and sanitation procedures.
- Follow HACCP guidelines for receiving, assembling, and distributing food supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
