Purpose
The Supplier Quality Engineer supports Quality Leadership and is responsible for all aspects of the Supplier Quality Assurance function. This is accomplished through collaboration in a team environment with suppliers to develop and implement best practices that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste and provide for continuous improvements in meeting all customer requirements. Collect root cause analysis and provide corrective feedback to prevent line stops due to supply issues.
Manage the customer specific requirements and offer technical support to suppliers. Responsible for ensuring that the products produced meet quality standards required to minimize quality costs and maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring that procedures and processes are adhered to. Help the supplier during new product introductions to quality, capacity and supplier capability and acceptable.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of knowledge and experience in a Quality Assurance role with product acceptance authority
- Must possess experience using different precision measurement instruments
- Must possess knowledge of Supply Chain functions within the Aerospace Manufacturing industry
- Carry out supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP)
- Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues
- Facilitate the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues within assigned projects and suppliers
- Support new product launches to ensure that supplier quality meets the required standards
- Provide concise, complete and accurate documentation of inspection results relative to area of responsibility. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval or product warrant submission
- Provide training, learning and development where appropriate with suppliers
- Partner with other departments to ensure the adherence to the Quality Management System and other compliance requirements
- Collaborates with operations, leaders, purchasing, customer service and others to efficiently meet customer demand.
- Support the Quality Manager to monitor and report on supplier product quality and performance
- Leads the outside process receiving inspection team to close the loop on supplier issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact and deal with internal customers
- Inspects and evaluates products for quality and defects during source inspection
- Provide visibility to supervision of potential quality issues, as well as input on internal perceptions associated with Quality and Delivery performance.
- Performs other related duties, as required
- Has the capability to troubleshoot complex and questionable inspections by asking the right questions to get to the root cause of the problem
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements.
- Makes decisions based on customer/regulatory requirements
- Ability to effectively communicate in small and large group environments
- Confer with organizational team members at all levels to discuss issues, coordinate activities or resolve problems.
- Act as liaison between organization and outside organizations.
- Work closely with divisional leadership to accomplish supplier improvement activities
- Perform source inspection onsite at the supplier as required
- Complete supplier validation audits, with supplier support and supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP)
