, you'll play a vital role in managing the City of Wichita's 12 splash pad sites, keeping them running smoothly and safely. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy being active, working outdoors, and making a difference in the community. You'll gain hands-on experience in water facility operations while contributing to the joy of families and children enjoying the splash pads throughout the city.

This limited part-time opportunity offers flexibility, a chance to work with a supportive team, and the satisfaction of knowing you're helping create safe, enjoyable spaces for summer fun. 2026 Important Dates

  • The interview process is scheduled to begin early February 2026.
  • Save the date! Splash pads are set to open early May 2026.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle to travel from site to site
  • Monitor and correct chemical balances at the City’s splash pad locations
  • Help distribute chemicals from a central point to pools and splash pads throughout the city
  • Help with changing of chemical barrels at pool locations
  • Enforce all City of Wichita Parks pools policies and procedures
  • Completes daily chemical records, attendance numbers, and shift reports
  • Ensure facility cleanliness and maintain operations of chemicals and filtration of the pool systems
  • These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements of Work
  • Ability to listen to, read, interpret, and apply instructions received
  • Ability to handle chemicals that require a respirator
  • Ability to lift containers weighing up to 60lbs up to a 4 ft height
  • Ability to move containers weighing up to 125lbs using mechanical assistance
  • Ability to lift and move large, sometimes bulky objects weighing up to 80lbs with assistance
  • Ability to climb steps or ladders
  • Ability to move about quickly and stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop or squat, as needed to perform assigned tasks
  • Ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions
  • Ability to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • An employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Experience and Training
  • Must be at least 18 years old or older.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license.
  • Must have knowledge or ability to learn basic water chemistry.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
