Location

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrimary responsibilities include performing or assisting with clinical tasks such as patient preparation, physical and ACCU check, pregnancy testing, instrument care, and communicating with patients, physicians, and testing facilities.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Prior health care experience and/or training is preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Certification preference noted.
- Take medical histories and record vital signs.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist the physician during the exam.
- Discharge patients from the recovery department.
- Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the pre‑op/PACU areas running smoothly.
- Prepare pre‑op/PACU bays for patient visits; collect vital signs and document data.
- Document current medications.
- Instruct patients on how to prepare for the physician.
- Anticipate and set up special equipment and supplies needed for the visit.
- Alert the nurse when the patient is ready and communicate pertinent clinical information.
- Clean and prepare bays for the next patient.
- Respond to needs to expedite visits and maintain schedule.
- Assist the nurse with patient care during the visit.
- Adhere to hand hygiene and standard precaution guidelines.
- Provide age‑appropriate care and document data per practice protocols.
- Restock supplies in pre‑op/PACU as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of clinic policies, procedures, and medical terminology.
- Skill in gathering and reporting patient information.
- Strong written and verbal communication and customer relations skills.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, medical staff, and external agencies.
- Professional demeanor in a complex, busy health care environment.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a patient care team.
- Prioritize multiple tasks and handle high volume interactions.
- Commitment to continuing education and CEU re‑licensure requirements.
- Attend all facility in‑services and assist in orientation of new employees.
Requires sitting and standing in a normal surgery center environment.
- Long periods on feet; lift or turn disabled patients.
- Concentration up to four hours.
- Verbal communication both in person and by telephone.
- Computer keyboard use and monitor viewing.
- Standing: 66‑100%
- Walking: 66‑100%
- Lifting: up to 50 lbs as needed.
- Carrying: up to 25 lbs as needed.
- Pushing: up to 400 lbs on wheels with assistance as needed.
- Climbing: 1‑5 flights of stairs as necessary.
- Pulling, bending, squatting, rotating, kneeling, reaching as necessary.
- Visual and hearing senses adequate for patient care.
