Overview
The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full‑time, on‑site Registered Nurse to join our team in Wichita, KS offices. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with no major holidays, no on‑call and no weekends.

Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding status and medical history. Collect and record nursing assessment and interventions.
- Review and report the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider and take appropriate action based on standard or verbal orders.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Assure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Maintain work environment.
- Restock supply area as needed.
- Follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other potentially infected with a blood‑borne pathogen.
- Maintain all disinfection protocols. Maintain equipment according to quality control standards.
- Facilitate clinical operations and patient care.
- Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
- Assist physician with exams and procedures.
- Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.
- Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients.
- Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart. As necessary, facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.
- Assist patients in locating available community resources.
- Other duties as assigned. Interprofessional collaboration.
- Assist and collaborate with clinical research.
- Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
- Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
- Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.
- Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.
- Attends required, applicable meetings.
- Keeps current licensure and requirements for the same including continuing medical education.
- Remains current on all compliance requirements and in part, demonstrates knowledge of adherence to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regards to patient’s records and information.
- Ensures all applicable policies and procedures of the company and Network are followed.
- Other responsibilities or duties as assigned.
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must maintain continuing education requirements.
- 0‑3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
