Description
Trust Women Wichita offers comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion care. The Staff Nurse adheres to principles of Service Care and the philosophy and mission of Trust Women Wichita in all aspects of job performance. The Staff Nurse, under direct supervision of the Medical Director(s) and Health Center Manager of Trust Women Wichita, assists in patient care while in the health center.
The Staff Nurse is responsible for observing, documenting, and treating abortion care patients, following standing orders, and documenting patient care in the electronic health record. The Staff Nurse also performs IV placement and phlebotomy and administers both intravenous and oral medications. Staff Nurses assess patients for any adverse effects of drug therapy.

Essential Functions (included but not limited to)- Strong commitment to abortion access and high-quality reproductive healthcare
- Communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize effective collaboration with a diverse community of patients, employees, and external agencies
- Ability to work independently in addition to working with a team
- Adherence to all federal HIPAA statutes and understanding of medical confidentiality
- Prioritize and organize health center necessities and adapt to rapidly changing daily needs
- Adherence to and oversight of all clinical policy guidelines
- Ability to function as a team member as well as a leader
- On-call rotation with other staff nurses
- Administers intravenous narcotic medications during in-office visits and monitors patient response to such through continuous vital signs and verbal and visual cues of alertness.
- Dispenses oral medications as needed
- Monitors medication counts, including controlled substances, ensuring that all medicines are secure and accounted for daily.
- Performs venipuncture, finger stick, and IV placement as needed
- Assists with the recovery of patients as needed
- Treats all patients, callers, visitors, and employees with respect, courtesy, kindness, and dignity
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing holding a current Kansas RN license
- 2 years’ experience in a medical setting, preferably in women’s health
- ACLS certified or willingness to complete the process if offered employment
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with patients and co-workers
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to train and become proficient in direct patient care skills relevant to the role
- Ability to perform a variety of duties and adjust to frequent change
- Skills in working autonomously and collaboratively within a health care environment
- Prior related experience preferred
